It's a memory. Carly had met a group of Marines, in San Diego, while she was visiting her friend Connie. A couple of months ago Connie had flown, with a couple of her friends, to San Diego from Seattle to celebrate her 18th birthday. She was staying with a friend near Pacific Beach. Carly decided she would take a friend from home and go meet Connie at the beach. Needless to say, these girls befriended a group of Marines. Carly has continued to keep in touch with them. When Carly started thinking about a prom date - she thought it might be fun to invite one of her Marine friends. needless to say, Tom and I have been pretty worried about this whole situation. We have met the guys a few times. They seem very respectful and if I say so myself, pretty good sports. What Marine would really want to go to a high school prom. Carly had a really fun time. Tom and I are just happy the night is over. On a side note, Carly has tried to be somewhat of a member missionary with her Marine friends. She has told them all about our church and her beliefs - she has even given them each their own copy of "For the Strength of Youth" pamphlet.
